Are You Ready To Be Happy Again?
I know that living with an abusive partner is an ongoing blow to your spirit. You can’t be your best self when your heart and mind are shackled by domestic abuse.
I know from experience that fear can paralyze your life. You start to lose a part of yourself as your self esteem dissolves.
Maybe you feel like you will never be happy again. Maybe you just want to give up, because you think there’s no way out.
Dealing with fear is the core message of this blog. If we are to evolve into strong and capable women we need to learn how to deal with our fears.
When you are living in fear, you don’t make the right decisions about your future, because you feel your options are limited. You find yourself stuck in a situation that can destroy your life.
In each blog post, I present current information about domestic abuse. You’ll begin to understand the patterns seen in these situations. You will see that your situation is not unique.
Some people think domestic abuse just means physical abuse. I know from personal experience that words can bruise you longer than you realize.
Yelling, name calling, threats and accusations are some examples of emotional abuse. Sometimes you start thinking it’s normal. It’s not.
Sometimes we lie to ourselves when we are afraid to face the truth. I used to make a lot of excuses for his behavior, until I realized he’d never change and my health was at risk.
The most important thing you need to realize it that if he belittles you, you are not to blame. That’s a big first step.
I’ve also learned that women are very good at hiding things inside … especially if they are living in constant fear.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell family or friends what is going on because you’re afraid of retaliation. Or maybe you’re ashamed to a admit what is going on.
Each blog post has a message that leaves you with something to think about. Take the time to consider these self analysis sections at the bottom of the posts as they lead to the formation of a healthy mindset.
I also offer a weekly newsletter that will help you tap in to your best self.
The Fear Free Life newsletter can help you stay focused on becoming a stronger, happier woman. You will learn that you are capable of more than you realize.
None of the Fear Free Life newsletter articles will mention domestic abuse I don't want to risk your safety.
I want you to know that I am writing this blog in memory of my friend, Nancy. She stayed too long with her abusive husband, and her health gave out. I miss her.
For now, just know that you can build a new mindset that realizes that anything done to you without your consent is not your fault.
You can develop a new attitude that realizes you are meant to be happy. A thoughtful you who knows when it’s time to leave, and how to leave safely.
Just know that you are never alone in this world. God is real, you are a child of God, and you are meant to live in peace.
Note: This blog is for sharing information. I don’t offer professional advice. It’s important to seek professional help from a therapist or counselor to address underlying issues and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

My name is Marilynn Bell, M.S.
I began my career as a teacher in an inner city high school. I soon learned that these students needed more than what they were learning in the classroom if they were to succeed in life.
I received my Master’s Degree with the goal of enhancing personal growth in adolescents and young adults. This led me to develop a series of lesson plans focusing on self improvement.
I tested this program with my students, and later used it in my volunteer work with women struggling with alcoholism.
My career focus changed when I became a fundraiser for the Diocese of Corpus Christi. I was responsible for coordinating the efforts of seventy churches to develop community resources.
I then moved out of state and became an employment counselor for Snelling & Snelling Employment Agency. I developed a free self help program that had a positive effect on many women’s career development.
When I decided to start my own business, I became a director in PrePaid Legal. In this program I was able to encourage many women to take the initiative to start their own home based business.
As my career evolved, I became a mortgage broker and initiated some creative funding options for those struggling with credit issues.
Most people don't know that I struggled with domestic abuse for many years.
I'm now free and at peace in my life, and I want to help other women to find the joy that comes with living a fear free life.
